Winter Vacation Confusion in Rajasthan Schools: Half-Yearly Exams to End by December 24
In Rajasthan, there has been some confusion regarding the winter vacation dates and the timing of the half-yearly exams for schools. The K-12 examination schedule for the year 2024-25 has undergone a change, leaving many students and parents uncertain about the winter holidays.
Half-Yearly Exam Timetable Revised
The half-yearly exams in Rajasthan schools will now begin on 14th December and will conclude by 24th December.
Initially, the exam schedule had listed exams starting on 17th December and continuing until 27th December. However, the revised schedule brings forward the end date to 24th December.
Winter Vacation Dates
The winter holidays are expected to begin on 25th December, following the conclusion of the exams. These holidays are likely to continue until 5th January 2025.
This decision is part of an ongoing policy shift, as stated by the Education Minister, Madan Dilawar, who clarified that the winter break would now be based on actual winter conditions, rather than a fixed calendar. The holidays will begin only when it is cold enough, whether from 1st January or 5th January, depending on the weather.
Changes in the Annual School Calendar
The Annual Calendar for Schools for the academic year 2024-25 was released earlier this year in July, and it includes the winter break from 25th December to 5th January.
This year’s winter vacation starts similarly to last year, with schools closing from 25th December.

14th December – Information and Communication Technology
15th December – Sunday Holiday
16th December – Health Education
17th December – English
18th December – Science
19th December – Hindi
20th December – Social Science
21st December – Sanskrit/Urdu/Punjabi/Sindhi
22nd December – Holiday
23rd December – Rajasthan’s Martial Heritage
24th December – Mathematics
This revised schedule means that students can expect a relatively short break during the holidays, with exams concluding just before Christmas.
