SSC Withdraws Govt Jobs Exam Result – The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), responsible for organizing recruitment processes for various positions within central government ministries, has announced the withdrawal of previously declared exam results for Manipur.

This action comes after discovering that data from one phase of the examination process was unintentionally omitted.

The SSC, on 15th March 2024, released the results for the positions of the Constable (general duty) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Secretariat Security Force (SSF), Rifleman (general duty) in Assam Rifles, and Sepoy in the Narcotics Control Bureau Examination, 2022, specifically for candidates from Manipur.

The complex situation regarding law and order in Manipur necessitated the conduct of physical and medical examinations for candidates from the state in several phases. The SSC acknowledged in a notice that while compiling the results on March 15, 2024, data from one of the phases needed to be included.

Accordingly, the SSC’s notice dated March 18 stated, “The result announced on March 15, 2024, is at this moment retracted. A revised final result, including the full dataset of candidates from Manipur, will be released shortly.”

The SSC is recognized as one of the government’s principal recruitment bodies, primarily filling all Group B (non-gazetted) and Group C (non-technical) positions across various central ministries and departments.

Rajkumar Imo Singh, a BJP MLA from Manipur, voiced his concerns on X, indicating that the chief secretary had been directed to discuss this oversight with officials at the central government level.

Singh questioned whether this error was merely accidental or indicative of broader issues within the system, particularly in regions typically hard to monitor.

He emphasized the state government’s commitment to addressing these challenges, stating, “This correction won’t be straightforward, but we must unite for our state’s welfare.”

The backdrop to these developments is the ongoing ethnic conflict in Manipur, which has resulted in at least 219 fatalities since May of the previous year.

The conflict was ignited by a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ in the state’s hill districts, organized in opposition to the demand by the Meitei community for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

The Meitei community predominantly resides in the Imphal Valley, representing approximately 53% of the state’s population.

In contrast, the tribal communities, including Nagas and Kukis, makeup about 40% of the population and mainly inhabit the hill districts.
