How much is the prize money?
- International winner will get £30,000 (about Rs 33 lakh)
- International runner-up will get £5,000 (about Rs 5 lakh)
- National winner of each country will also get £5,000 (about Rs 5 lakh)
That is, even if you become a national winner in India, you can get a direct reward of Rs 5 lakh.
How will the selection process be?
Judging at the national level
- First the entries will be examined in each country.
- A Dyson Engineer and external judges will evaluate all the ideas.
- 1 national winner and 2 runners-up will be selected in each country.
International level
- Then Dyson Engineers will select the top 20 international projects.
- From these top 20, Sir James Dyson himself will select the international winner.
Who won from India last year?
Komal Panda of Odisha won India’s National Award for a portable cooling carrier named “Novocarry”.
This device helps in keeping insulin and medicines at a safe temperature.
Komal received a reward of about Rs 5 lakh for this.
Who can apply? (Eligibility)
- Design or engineering students studying in any country can participate in this.
- Students who have recently graduated can also apply.
- Your innovation should be such that it solves a real world problem and makes people’s lives easier.

- Any innovative project, design or machine that solves a social, environmental or technical problem.
