The dream of foreign students studying in America is that after completing graduation, they will get jobs in big companies there and their career will take a new flight.

But the reality is not so easy for everyone. The job market there is going through a very bad phase these days, and foreign students are the worst hit by it.

This is the situation faced by an Indian student who recently completed his Masters in Computer Science. Despite studying in demanding fields like Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, he has been looking for a job for months but is getting rejections everywhere.

Applied at more than 500 places, still got only disappointment

The student posted the video on the social media platform Reddit But while sharing his experience he wrote that he has applied to more than 500 companies since April. He had graduated with a masters degree just three weeks ago.

Despite applying at so many places, he got an interview opportunity at only three places, but he had to face rejection from there too.

He said that even after changing his resume repeatedly and taking advice from different professionals, he is not getting selected. This situation has become very frustrating for him.

OPT, companies are not hiring

The student further said that he recently gave an interview to a sports company. He thought that he would get a job now, but when the company came to know about his visa status, the matter got worse.

He told the company that he is on F-1 visa and has applied for OPT (Optional Practical Training). He also said that he has got OPT approval, but despite this, the company sent a rejection email after a few days.

“I start crying while applying for a job”

In his post, the student revealed that he is now mentally broken due to continuous rejections. He wrote – “ I apply for dozens of jobs every day. Many times I start crying while applying. This is extremely stressful and frustrating. ”

He said that his situation has become more difficult because of the F-1 visa, because companies are not ready to give sponsorship. If he does not get a job within 90 days, he may have to leave America.

“The professor is saying do a PhD”

The student further wrote that he is continuously applying on LinkedIn and other platforms and is also networking with people, but it is not working. His professors have advised him to do PhD, but he currently wants to do a job so that he can start his career.

There is a job fair scheduled to be held in September, but students have little hope as most of the companies there are not ready to provide visa sponsorship.

America is the country in the world where the medical profession gets the most respect and the highest salary. It is a big dream for Indian medical students to practice in America. But to fulfill this dream, just getting an MBBS degree from India is not enough, but it is also necessary to fulfill the rules set by the medical authorities there.

want to go to America and become a doctor after doing MBBS from India, then for this you will have to go through five important steps. Let’s understand in detail.

Best Nursing Coaching

Earn ECFMG Certification

Medical practice in America begins with ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates). Students pursuing MBBS from India have to first get their degree verified by ECFMG.

This certification proves that your degree is in line with US standards.

Without this you cannot get admission into any residency program in America.

So the first step is to get ECFMG certification.

Passing the USMLE Exam

The next step after ECFMG certification is to pass the USMLE (United States Medical Licensing Examination). This is the US medical licensing exam and is conducted in three steps.

Step 1: Knowledge of basic medical science is tested.

Step 2: Clinical knowledge and practical skills are tested.

Step 3: Patient care, clinical science and biomedical knowledge are tested.

It is mandatory to pass all three steps.

Enrollment in a Residency Program

The next step after passing the USMLE is to get admission into a residency program.

This is a postgraduate training, where you get practical training in American hospitals.

can also choose specialization in a particular field (like Cardiology, Neurology, Surgery etc.).

There are many residency programs available for foreign medical students, and you have to work hard to get selected in them.

Getting Visa Sponsorship

After being selected for the residency program, you need a visa to work in the US.

The most popular visa for most Indian MBBS graduates is the J-1 visa, which is sponsored by ECFMG.

Apart from this, some residency programs also offer H-1B visa sponsorship.

Which visa will be right for you depends on your program and career plan.

Obtaining a State Medical License

It takes 3 to 7 years to complete a residency program. After this, you have to obtain a state medical license to practice in the US.

Each state has its own licensing policy.

Usually, USMLE results, proof of residency program, and medical education details are required to be submitted to obtain a license.

After this you can officially start practicing as a doctor in America.

Conclusion

It is absolutely possible to become a doctor in America after completing MBBS from India, but it is a long and laborious process. From ECFMG certification to USMLE exam, residency training and state medical license, every step has to be completed carefully.

If you prepare in the right direction from the beginning, then the dream of becoming a doctor in America can definitely be fulfilled.

The DRDO Internship: A Window into Defence Research https://physicswala.in/drdo-internship/ https://physicswala.in/drdo-internship/#respond Tue, 26 Aug 2025 06:02:31 +0000 https://physicswala.in/?p=15347 The DRDO Internship: A Window into Defence Research

DRDO operates a network of over 50 labs across India, each specializing in different areas of defense technology. An internship here is not a one-size-fits-all experience; it’s a deep dive into a specific field of research. Interns are typically assigned to a project relevant to their academic discipline, working under the guidance of an experienced scientist.

Internship Disciplines and Project Areas

DRDO internships are primarily offered to students pursuing degrees in Engineering and General Sciences. The specific projects and labs an intern can join depend on their academic background. Common disciplines and potential project areas include:

Computer Science & Engineering: Interns may work on projects related to artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), data science, cybersecurity, and software development for defense applications.

Electronics & Communication Engineering: Projects could involve radar technology, electronic warfare, and communication systems.

Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering: Interns might contribute to the design and development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missile systems, or combat vehicles.

Materials Science & Engineering: Projects in this field could focus on developing advanced materials for defense applications, such as lightweight alloys or composite materials.

A Glimpse into the Work Environment

Interns at DRDO get to experience a highly structured and disciplined work environment. They are typically given a small, focused part of a larger project, allowing them to make a tangible contribution while learning from the ground up.

The work often involves a high degree of confidentiality, and interns are only permitted to work in unclassified areas of the labs. This exposure to a professional, research-focused environment, with its emphasis on precision and security, is a major benefit.

Expertise and Authoritativeness: The specialized nature of these internships, directly tied to DRDO’s research mission, demonstrates the organization’s deep expertise and authority in defense technology.

By providing a structured environment where students can contribute to real-world projects, DRDO builds trust and establishes itself as a leader in training future defense professionals.

The Path to a DRDO Internship: Application and Selection Process

The application process for a DRDO internship is rigorous, designed to identify highly meritorious and dedicated students. The process is decentralized, with each lab publishing its own internship requirements and deadlines.

Eligibility and Academic Record: The most critical criteria for a DRDO internship are your academic qualifications. Most labs require students to be in their final year of their undergraduate or postgraduate program.

A consistently high academic record, often with a CGPA of 7.5 or 8.5 and above (or 75% and above marks), is a prerequisite for being considered. The age limit is typically below 28 years.

Application Procedure: The application process is generally an offline one. Students must identify a suitable lab based on their discipline and then apply directly to the concerned lab’s Director.

The application usually requires a reference or request letter from the college Principal or HOD, along with a bonafide certificate and an NOC (No Objection Certificate).

Selection Process: The selection is primarily based on the student’s academic record (CGPA/marks). Shortlisted candidates may also be required to attend an online or in-person interview or interaction.

The final selection is subject to satisfactory verification of all documents, including a police verification from the student’s hometown, which must be submitted at the time of joining.

Trustworthiness and Experience: The decentralized, merit-based selection process, with its strict academic criteria and requirement for college endorsement, demonstrates DRDO’s commitment to recruiting only the most capable students.

This transparent process, backed by the need for police verification, builds trust and ensures the integrity of the selection.

The Experience and Growth Opportunities

A DRDO internship is a launchpad for future career success, offering benefits that go far beyond a typical internship.

Mentorship from Experts: Interns are placed under the direct supervision of a scientist who acts as a guide and mentor. This one-on-one interaction allows interns to learn from some of the best minds in the country and gain insights into a career in scientific research.

Hands-On Projects: The projects assigned to interns are not trivial. They are meaningful contributions to ongoing research. This hands-on experience provides a deeper understanding of their field and equips them with practical skills that are highly valued in the industry.

Skill Development: Beyond the core project, interns learn to navigate the complexities of a large-scale research organization. They develop skills in research methodologies, data analysis, and documentation, which are essential for any scientific or engineering career.

Networking: The internship provides an excellent opportunity to network with scientists, fellow interns, and other professionals. These connections can be invaluable for future career guidance and opportunities.

Stipend and Benefits: Many DRDO labs offer a paid internship, with stipends often ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹30,000 per month, depending on the lab and duration. While some internships may be unpaid, the invaluable experience gained far outweighs the lack of a stipend.

Conclusion

A DRDO internship is a unique and challenging opportunity for students who are passionate about science and technology and want to contribute to the nation’s defense.

The rigorous application process ensures that only the most deserving candidates are selected. By understanding the eligibility criteria, preparing a meticulous application, and demonstrating a strong academic record and a genuine interest in defense research, aspiring professionals can unlock a world of opportunity and innovation at DRDO.

Navigating the Landscape of J P Morgan Internships https://physicswala.in/j-p-morgan-internships/ https://physicswala.in/j-p-morgan-internships/#respond Sun, 24 Aug 2025 05:54:39 +0000 https://physicswala.in/?p=15333 Navigating the Landscape of J P Morgan Internships

J P Morgan offers a diverse array of internship programs designed to cater to students with various academic backgrounds and career aspirations. These programs are available across the firm’s many business units, providing a direct and immersive look into the industry.

Summer Analyst and Summer Associate Programs

The Summer Analyst Program is the most common and competitive internship for undergraduate students. Typically lasting 9-10 weeks, this program fully immerses interns into a specific division, where they are assigned to real client projects.

For instance, an intern in the Investment Banking division might be tasked with building financial models, preparing client presentations, and conducting due diligence for a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deal.

The Summer Associate Program is designed for students pursuing a Master’s or MBA degree, offering a similar hands-on experience but with a higher level of responsibility and more direct client interaction.

Specialized Divisional Internships

J P Morgan operates across a multitude of divisions, each with its own internship opportunities:

Investment Banking: The quintessential finance internship, focusing on M&A, capital markets, and corporate finance. Interns here learn core skills like financial modeling, valuation, and client advisory. The program starts with a formal training period covering accounting fundamentals, valuation, and financial modeling.

Global Markets: This division covers sales, trading, and research. Interns get a taste of the fast-paced world of trading floors, market analysis, and client solutions. Interns may propose trade ideas, conduct research, and participate in trading simulations.

Asset & Wealth Management: Interns in this division help manage investment portfolios for institutional and high-net-worth clients, working on research, portfolio construction, and client servicing.

Technology & Engineering: This is a crucial division that supports all other business units. Engineering interns work on developing and maintaining the firm’s technological infrastructure, from trading platforms to data management systems. This role is perfect for students with a strong background in computer science, and they often work on projects using languages like Java, C++, or Python.

Early Insight (Pre-Internships)

For undergraduates in their early years, J P Morgan offers shorter, immersive career awareness experiences. These programs are designed to provide a taste of what it’s like to work at the firm, helping students decide which role might be right for them before they apply for a full internship. The firm’s virtual experience programs through platforms like Forage are also excellent resources to gain valuable skills and experience.

Expertise and Authoritativeness: The specialized and well-structured nature of these programs demonstrates J P Morgan’s deep-rooted expertise in multiple financial and technological domains. By offering internships that align with these specializations, the firm showcases its authority in training the next generation of industry leaders.

It is designed to identify candidates who possess a unique blend of technical skills, analytical thinking, and cultural alignment with the firm’s values. The process generally consists of the following stages:

Online Application and Resume Screening: The journey begins by submitting an online application through the J P Morgan Careers portal. It is crucial to tailor your resume to the specific role and division, highlighting relevant projects, internships, and skills using keywords like “M&A,” “modeling,” “Python,” or “data structures.” J P Morgan’s applicant tracking systems (ATS) screen for these keywords, making a well-optimized resume key to getting past the initial screening.

Online Assessment: After the resume screen, candidates are often invited to a video interview, which is a pre-recorded video assessment, or to take a Pymetrics games assessment. Technical roles, especially in Technology & Engineering, often involve a HackerRank or other timed coding challenge. The Pymetrics games are a tool to learn more about a candidate’s cognitive and behavioral traits beyond their resume.

Superday (Final Round): Candidates who successfully pass the initial rounds are invited to a “Superday,” which consists of a series of back-to-back interviews (2-5 interviews, 30 minutes each). These interviews are a blend of technical questions and behavioral questions.

You will be asked to share specific examples from your past experiences (using the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result) to demonstrate skills like “analytical thinking,” “teamwork,” and “leadership.” The technical questions can range from brain teasers to questions about financial concepts and market trends.

Trustworthiness and Experience: The emphasis on multiple interview rounds, including a Superday, and a thorough assessment process reflects J P Morgan’s commitment to hiring the right talent. The firm’s transparent recruitment process builds trust with candidates, ensuring they are evaluated fairly based on their skills and potential.

How to Start Preparing for IIT JEE from Class 11? https://physicswala.in/how-to-start-preparing-for-iit-jee-from-class-11/ https://physicswala.in/how-to-start-preparing-for-iit-jee-from-class-11/#respond Sat, 23 Aug 2025 10:57:25 +0000 https://physicswala.in/?p=15420 How to Start Preparing for IIT JEE from Class 11?

For millions of students in India who dream of studying engineering, IIT JEE is not just an exam but a challenging journey.

This test not only tests your intelligence but also your hard work, consistency and time management ability.

Every year around 10 lakh students appear in JEE Mains, but the seats in IIT are limited to a few thousand. In such a situation, it is very important to start the preparation at the right time and in the right manner.

The time after the class 10 board examination is a golden opportunity for this preparation. The foundation of Physics, Chemistry and Maths studied in class 11 forms the basis of JEE questions.

Therefore, if you start planning and studying now, you will be in a strong position in 2 years.

Let us know how to start preparing for IIT JEE from class 11, so that you can reach your dream IIT.

  1. Create clear goals and timetables

IIT JEE is not just about memorizing books, it is a test of your consistent efforts and discipline.

Firstly, clarify your goal – what rank and which college you want to get. Then prepare a flexible timetable accordingly.

6–8 hours daily for study(outside of school hours)

Allocate time for each subject

Give more time to difficult topics

Keep one day in a week for revision

Keep in mind, the timetable should not be too strict. If you miss some work on a day, cover it the next day instead of blaming yourself.

  1. Do a SWOT analysis

JEE syllabus is huge and it is normal that you may not be perfect in every topic.

SWOT Analysis at the very beginning:

Strengths: Which subject/topic do you like best?

Weaknesses: Which areas do you face problems in?

Opportunities: Where is there scope for improvement?

Threats: What reasons can hinder preparation?

For example, if Maths is your strong subject, then try to score maximum in it, and gradually improve your weak topics of Physics or Chemistry.

  1. Choose the right study material

NCERT books are the first and strongest base for JEE preparation, especially for Chemistry.

But considering the competition, only NCERT is not enough. You will also have to take help of reference books and coaching material.

Recommended books:

Physics: HC Verma, DC Pandey

Chemistry: NCERT, OP Tandon

Maths: RD Sharma(Objective), Cengage

Note that collecting too many books for the same topic can be a waste of time. It is better to stick to 1–2 quality resources and cover them thoroughly.

  1. Importance of coaching and guidance

Although self-study is very important, it is beneficial to take guidance from a good coaching institute for a tough exam like JEE.

With coaching you will:

Structured study plan

Regular Test Series

Doubt-clearing session

Topic-wise practice

You get those skills which keep you in a competitive environment.

  1. Maintain consistency

The toughest part of preparation is maintaining motivation and consistency.

Many times you will not feel like studying due to fatigue or boredom, but remember – this journey is long and giving up midway will take you back.

Set small targets, such as:

Finishing one chapter a week

Solve 30–40 questions every day

give monthly test

Achieving these small goals will give you confidence and motivation to continue your preparation.

  1. Don’t forget to practice and take tests

Both speed and accuracy are required in JEE. For this:

Give regular mock tests

solve previous year question papers

Analyze the mistakes

Treat each test as a learning opportunity, not just a chance to see a result.

  1. Take care of health and lifestyle

Ignoring health during preparation is a big mistake.

6–7 hours of sleep

Adopt a healthy diet

Do light exercise or meditation

Only a healthy mind and body will help you study for a long time.
