National Defence Academy (NDA) or Naval Academy (NA) Exam
If you have passed 12th class then you can give NDA/NA exam and this exam is held twice a year where you can join Indian Army, Air Force or Indian Navy after NDA. This exam is conducted by UPSC.
For this, the age of the candidate should be between 16.5 years to 19.5 years. If the candidates want to join Navy or Air Force then it is mandatory for them to have passed 10+2 in Maths and Physics. Both male and female candidates can apply for this job.
Its written exam pattern will include a maths exam of 300 marks and a General Aptitude Test of 600 marks. Selected candidates will have to go through a 5-day interview process for physical and manual examination.
Selected candidates will be given training at the National Defence Academy in Pune for 3 years. After this, candidates are given special training at the related services academy and finally the candidates become commission officers.
Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT)
If your dream is to join the Indian Air Force, then you will have to give the AFCAT exam which is held twice a year. In these you can apply for different posts like Flying Officers, Officers in Ground Duty-Non-Technical Post or Officers in Ground Duty-Technical Post.

Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Exam
For those candidates who want to join Navy, Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Exam is there, after clearing which they can join environmental protection and exploration, maritime security and safety missions.
For Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant exam, the age of the candidate should be between 20 years to 24 years. For general duty, the candidate must have a graduate degree in physics and maths, while for working in technical branch, an engineering degree is a must.
Both male and female candidates can apply for this exam. In the early selection process of this exam, there is a screening test including mental fitness and picture perception of the candidate.
And then the final selection board includes interview, group discussion/work, mental fitness test and medical checkup etc.
Finally, the selected candidates are given proper training and selected for the job of assistant commandant who serves in the coast guard operations on the coasts of the Indian coast.
Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Exam
This Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) Assistant Commandant Exam is for those candidates who want to join CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, CISF and other forces and become assistant commandant. To appear in this exam, you must have at least a graduation degree.
The age of the candidate should be between 20 to 25 years for this exam and both male and female candidates can apply for this exam.
In its exam pattern, in the written exam – paper 1 is the exam of general ability and intelligence of 250 marks and paper 2 is the exam of general studies, essay and comprehension of 200 marks.
In the physical and medical training test, your physical standard and endurance are tested. During the interview, the candidate has to pass a test of 150 marks.

Combined Defence Service (CDS) Exam
CDS is conducted by UPSC and under this; candidates are selected for different types of armed forces. For this exam, the age of the candidate should be between 19 to 25 years.
Graduation degree is mandatory to join Army, Engineering to join Navy and Maths and Physics or Graduation degree in Engineering is mandatory for AI Force.
Only male and female candidates can apply for INA, IMNA and AFA and both male and female candidates can apply for OTA.
In its exam pattern, for INA/IMA and AFA, there is an exam of 300 marks in English, general knowledge and maths. Whereas in OTA, there is an exam of 200 marks in general knowledge and maths.
For the SSB interview, the candidate has to appear for 5 days of physical fitness, mental fitness and personality testing.
After getting training from the respective academies, the successful candidates are appointed as army officers in the Indian army, navy or air force.
