Chhattisgarh Government Big Step: Change in Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana, Newly Married Women will get Rs 35,000 directly in their account
The Chhattisgarh government has made major changes in the Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana. Now under this scheme, the amount of Rs 35,000 will be sent directly to the daughters getting married through DBT (Direct Bank Transfer) in their bank account.
This step has been taken with the aim of bringing transparency in the scheme and preventing corruption.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Vivah Yojana: Reason for change
Earlier in this scheme, there were allegations of corruption in purchasing the material required for marriage and in the arrangements. To eliminate irregularities and provide help directly to the beneficiaries, the Chhattisgarh government has made changes in the expenditure parameters of the scheme.
Now the arbitrariness of the officials in purchases and arrangements has been curbed.
Rs 35,000 will be sent directly to the bride’s account, so that she can get direct benefit from it.
The remaining amount will be spent on wedding events and other arrangements.
New expenditure criteria: How will the amount be used?
The total assistance amount of Rs 50,000 under this scheme is divided as follows:
DBT in the account of newlyweds:
Rs 35,000 will be sent directly to the account of the newly married girl.
This amount will be used as financial help at the beginning of their married life.
Expense on wedding arrangements:
Rs 8,000:
For pandal and building rent.
On food and snacks for 20 guests per couple.
Marriage certificate, photos and incidental expenses.
Rs 7,000:
For bride and groom’s clothes, shoes, slippers, mangalsutra, makeup items etc.
Other essential items that the marriage organizing committee deems appropriate.
Who will get the benefit of the scheme?
This scheme has been implemented for the daughters of poor and BPL families.
Especially the young women living in Dantewada and other interior areas will benefit from this scheme.
The revised format of this scheme will come into effect from 2024-25.
How to apply?
To avail the benefits of the scheme, interested families will have to apply to the Women and Child Development Department.
The application process has already started.
The organization of mass marriage will be ensured by March 2024.
